Design

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor has been flawlessly designed to retain the capability of the regular F-150, all while making changes that allow for even more confident backcountry driving. Smaller front and rear bumpers allow for improved approach and departure angles, while the larger front skid plate protect from rocks and debris. Even the tires have been specially designed with BFGoodrich specifically for the 2017 Raptor. Those tires can be fitted around Class-Exclusive beadlock-capable wheels for superior off-road performance.

Of course, the Raptor has also benefited from a new boxed steel frame that incorporates copious amounts of high-strength, military-grade, aluminum. That makes the new model approximately 500 pounds lighter than its predecessor.

Power and Capability

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is one of the first vehicles in the Ford lineup to fit the all-new High-Output 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 engine. Utilizing direct-injection technology, it is able to put Naperville and Oswego drivers in control of up to 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. That’s more than even the original 6.2L V8, enabling the Raptor to make zero to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds.

It pairs that engine with an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission system. To put that in context, this is the same high-end transmission that will be fitted with the new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and we believe it will also be heading beneath the hood of the next generation of Ford Mustangs.

• Adaptive Cruise Control: Automatically adjusts your preset cruising speed up and down to maintain a safe gap between your F-150 and the vehicle ahead. Collision warning with brake support are fitted as standard.
